SEMI releases silicon wafer shipment forecast report

SEMI releases silicon wafer shipment forecast report Silicon Wafer Forecast 2011 (Total Silicon Electronics - Excluding Non-Polished Silicon Wafers, (inches/mm))

Recently, SEMI (International Semiconductor Equipment and Materials Association) completed the semiconductor industry annual silicon shipment forecast report. The report forecasts the demand outlook for wafers for the period 2011–2013. The results showed that shipments of polished and epitaxial silicon in 2011 are expected to be 9.131 billion square inches, which is estimated to be 9.529 billion square inches in 2012, and is expected to be 9.995 billion square inches in 2013 (see the table below). The total shipment volume of wafers is expected to increase on the basis of last year's high operating level, and will maintain a steady growth trend in the next two years.

Stanley T, president and CEO of SEMI. Myers said: "As a result of the staggering shipment momentum in the first half of 2011, total shipments in 2011 are expected to remain at the highest level in history. Although it is in a short-term buffer phase, it is expected to maintain positive growth in the next two years. momentum."

Silicon wafers are the basic materials for semiconductors and are important raw materials for almost all electronic products, including computers, telecommunications products, and home electronics. Silicon wafers are typically thin wafers with unequal diameters (from 1 inch to 12 inches), and today more than 95% of semiconductor devices or "chips" use it as a substrate.
