Korea Gwangju promotes LED lighting export plan

According to relevant institutions and industry players, Korea Gwangju City, Korea Optical Industry Promotion Association (KAPID) and local industry players are currently conducting tens of billions to hundreds of billions of LED lighting export plans for Malaysia, Russia and Vietnam. The plan is led by a corporate self-governing body and a corporate promotion agency, and is promoted by multiple companies. Therefore, the possibility of success is extremely high, and it will have a positive impact on the future of the Korean LED industry.

At present, Korean companies are making plans for a low-carbon green-growth city in Malacca, about 100 billion won (about 442 million U.S. dollars) in Malaysia. Gwangju City Governor Jiang Yuntai has visited Malaysia and signed a city-friendly exchange agreement with Malacca. The Korea Optical Industry Promotion Association also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the Malacca LED Demonstration Business with the global marketing giant PhotonicsTradeGroup (PTG) and the Malacca State Government Investment Promotion Agency.

Through this business, the Korean company plans to replace 112,000 square meters of street lights in Malacca with a cost of 460 billion won, and spend 48 billion won in the Malacca River to set up 4.5 kilometers of LED landscape lighting. The amount is 500 billion won.

If the Revitalization Committee signs a formal business contract with the Malacca government, and will focus on Gwangju and other related companies, it will form an international consortium, participate in business plans and use the co-brand of the light industry Luxco to enter overseas. After the official operation of the business, in addition to the staged promotion of the Malacca state public institutions and advertising facilities for LED, it will also expand the LED lighting business in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.

In the first phase of the Revitalization Committee, we also actively responded to Russia’s investment of 25 billion won, and installed 12,000 LED street lights on the fourth ring road outside Moscow. The cause promoted by the Russian government will give South Korean LED operators the opportunity to attack the Central Asian market, which is worth hundreds of billions of won.

In July 2010, the Korea Light Industry Promotion Association and the Russian Energy Agency signed a memorandum of cooperation on Korea-Russia LED cooperation, and recently reached an agreement to form a Korea-Russia energy efficiency reform center to enhance and innovate energy efficiency. In order to explore and seek the Korean and Russian LED industry cultivation policies and cooperation programs, we will hold seminars and other in-depth discussions on various regulations, standards and technologies necessary for Korean companies to enter Russia.

In addition, in order to obtain the LED street lights and landscape lighting business in the emerging cities of Vietnam, the Korean industry will also invite the relevant officials of the Vietnamese state government to Gwangju to learn about Korean LED technology. In addition, Mongolia will also promote the LED street light demonstration and replacement business for the relevant government personnel. The Revitalization Association said that although such a business was only a few 10 or tens of billions of won at the beginning, once a formal contract was signed, it would be expected to grasp the dominance of the signatory countries, which is equivalent to mastering hundreds of billions of won.

Ding Zhongde (translated name), director of the Korea Optical Industry Promotion Association, said that most Korean LED companies are small and medium-sized enterprises, and it is difficult to directly carry out overseas marketing affairs. Therefore, the revitalization will decide to jointly plan for overseas planning. As some countries have already seen considerable results, the export of Korean LED companies to overseas markets will be active sooner or later.
