Panasonic will invest 10 billion yen to develop OLED panel mass production technology

Matsushita Group recently announced plans to use the 5th to 6th generation OLED panel production line of the Himeji Plant as a test line within two years, and plans to invest 20-300 billion yen to research and develop OLED panel mass production technology.

It is understood that there have been reports that Sony will establish a joint venture factory with Taiwanese panel giant AUO for OLED TVs and panels. Panasonic said that the company is also considering adopting a contract with other manufacturers to develop OLED panel mass production technology like Sony.

At the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show held in Las Vegas in the United States earlier this year, South Korea's Samsung Electronics and LG exhibited OLED flat-panel TVs with the world's most advanced display technology. In response, Panasonic said it will also accelerate the research and development of large-size home and commercial OLED TV products, and its quality will never be lost to Korean brands, and strive to be listed after 2013.
