According to statistics from LEDinside, in November 2008, the total revenue of listed LED manufacturers in Taiwan was NT$4,059 million, which was a significant decline from NT$5.7 billion in October. Observing Taiwan's overall chip factory revenue in November was 1.559 billion Taiwan dollars (MoM-31.4%, YoY-41.2%), the decline in revenue was greater than previous years.
Taking the leading manufacturer Jingdian as an example, the revenue in November was NT$648 million, with a monthly growth rate of -28.2%. In the new century, Optoelectronics' revenue in November was NT$100 million (MoM-28.6%), and the record of monthly revenues and record highs also set a stop. Since the beginning of this year, LED upstream manufacturers have significantly expanded their production capacity. When the economy reverses, the idle production capacity has increased. As for the downstream LED packaging segment, revenue in November was approximately 2.501 billion Taiwan dollars (MoM-27.1%, YoY-33.3%), and revenue performance declined significantly compared to the same period last year. With the revenue observations of individual package manufacturers, it can be seen that orders for almost all applications have fallen across the board. Whether it is Yiguang, Guangbao, which is quite successful in the field of NB backlighting, or Dongbei, Hongqi, which is mainly based on the white-brand mobile phone market, and even Huaxing, which is known for its special frozen lighting strips, the revenue decline is up to 20%. ~30% range.
LEDinside revealed that many LED industry players said that although they entered the traditional off-season in November, almost all of the application customers began to cut their inventory to adjust their inventory after mid-November, making the revenue decline more than the original. expected. Especially in the Chinese market, the industry boom has been declining rapidly, and many smaller LED packages or application manufacturers have already closed down. For channel vendors, recycling receivables is a priority over selling products, and therefore affects recent shipments.
