The cool white (6500 K) XLamp XM-L delivers 1000 lumens of light at 3 amps and 100 lm/W. For single-chip luminaires, this brightness is already very high, and the features described above also provide a favorable solution for directional lighting.
However, the XM-L also provides high illumination at low drive currents: 160 lumens and 160lm/W at 350 mA, and 700 mA. 315 lumens of brightness and 150 lm/W of light efficiency. Here, it is important to note that the area of ​​the wafer is much larger than other "high-efficiency" or "illumination-grade" LEDs on the market, as the size of the wafers used in these lamps is almost 1x1 mm. The size of the XM-L wafer is 2x2 mm.
According to Cree, the XLamp XM-L LED has been in the market from the conceptual design stage for eight months.
