High-resolution pressure sensor helps Fitbit Ultra to track stairs

The core tip of the electronic enthusiast network : Fitbit Ultra is Fitbit ’s second-generation universal personal health monitoring device, used to track a person ’s movements and download data to a personal computer wirelessly. The first-generation Fitbit stands out from a bunch of products. It not only helps users to upload tracking data online, but also can be integrated into a personalized online health and fitness program. Soon after the first generation Fitbit product was launched in 2008, I disassembled it. Although the development efforts ultimately succeeded, the team has invested hours in related attempts before finally giving up designing its own wireless interface and contacting Nordic Semiconductor.

The first-generation Fitbit products are easy to lose, and they do not have a reliable function to track stairs. Fitbit Ultra is similar to the first-generation Fitbit product, priced at $ 99, but has a safer physical design, and also adds a high-resolution (20cm) air pressure sensor from MEAS (Switzerland) to monitor the height of the stairs Variety.

Fitbit Ultra replaced Texas Instruments' MSP430F261T microcontroller with a low-power F5419A, but still retained Freescale Semiconductor's MMA7341LC three-axis MEMS accelerometer. Freescale provides a full-featured monitoring reference design at http://bit.ly/OAAAB2.

Fitbit's proprietary algorithm helps maintain Ultra's competitiveness in low-power, high-performance competition.
