MAX9680 3V video amplifier with built-in gain and filtering

The MAX9680 high-speed amplifier and filter are optimized for portable video systems. The device has been specially designed to be compatible with video encoders with 0.4VP-P video output embedded in the application processor. The input common-mode range includes the GND potential, allowing the video DAC (digital-to-analog converter) to be DC-coupled to the MAX9680.

The output swing when the device is connected to a standard back-terminated video load (150Ω) is GND + 2mV to VDD-20mV. The internal level conversion circuit prevents the output terminal from saturating at 0V input, thereby avoiding the synchronization pulse clipping of the general video circuit. The MAX9680 is ideal for DC-coupled video loads.

The MAX9680 is optimized for space-constrained applications and integrates an internal gain setting resistor (G = 5.2V / V) and a second-order video DAC reconstruction filter.

In shutdown mode, the quiescent current drops below 0.4µA, which greatly reduces power consumption and extends battery life. The MAX9680 is available in a miniature 2mm x 2.1mm, 6-pin SC70 package.
