Classic Business Car - 2017 Buick Hideo, modern design and innovation, high efficiency and technology!

In 2010, Yinglang emerged as part of Shanghai GM Buick's "global platform, all-around excellence" strategy, positioning itself as a mainstream mid-level sedan. By 2017, the updated Yinglang brought a fresh take on the mid-level sedan experience with its modern design and innovative technology. Personally, I believe that the key strengths of the Yinglang lie in its robust build quality, attractive styling that appeals to many, including women, its well-received tires, excellent acceleration, a light steering feel at lower speeds, and a stable steering response at higher speeds. The 2017 Buick Yinglang retains the familiar family design language, with its front grille adopting a vertical waterfall-like motif. The prominent brand logo in the center of the grille enhances the car’s prestige and improves its recognizability. The exterior design of the 2017 model showcases a more contemporary aesthetic compared to previous versions. The large grille paired with willow-inspired headlights gives it a spirited look. The wavy side profile adds dynamism, while the rear end appears more structured and visually appealing. Inside, the 2017 Yinglang introduces significant changes to its cabin layout. The center console no longer extends as far as before, providing passengers with additional legroom. The new model features a layered design in the functional areas of the center console, with an enlarged air vent area and a larger LCD screen. In terms of dimensions, the 2017 Yinglang measures 4,587 mm in length, 1,798 mm in width, 1,463 mm in height, and boasts a wheelbase of 2,640 mm. Compared to the current model, the wheelbase has been shortened by nearly 45 mm, which might slightly reduce practical space, but the overall weight of the new car has decreased by up to 100 kg. While the exterior and interior design of the 2017 Yinglang remained largely unchanged, certain configurations were tweaked. For instance, the 15N manual elite, 15N automatic elite, and 15N automatic luxury models now feature new chrome accents on their rear lights. The 15N automatic luxury variant offers optional 16-inch blackened ten-spoke rims and beige leather interiors. Additionally, buyers can choose from five body colors: Snow White, Pearl Black, Deep Blue, Chinese Red, and Topaz Brown. The interior of the new model continues Buick’s latest family-oriented design philosophy, creating a business-like ambiance with its embracing cockpit shape. The three-spoke sport steering wheel equipped with multifunction buttons adds a touch of sportiness. The leather seats offer superior comfort, and the dense arrangement of buttons in the central control area is complemented by a large central console covered in soft-touch materials. Under the hood, the Shanghai GM Buick Yinglang’s 1.4T DVVT turbocharged engine rivals imported engines in terms of power and torque. It delivers a maximum power output of 106 kW between 4,900 and 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 200 Nm from 1,700 to 4,800 rpm. With a combined fuel consumption of just 5.9 liters per 100 km, the engine combines efficiency with environmental friendliness through features like lightweight construction, engine start-stop technology, and a drag coefficient as low as 0.3. The vehicle’s weight has been reduced to 1,225 kg, enhancing both fuel economy and handling. The engine start-stop system has undergone optimization to ensure durability, with a starter lifespan reaching 350,000 hours—far exceeding that of typical starters. Joint ventures in China continue to hold a strong position in the automotive market, excelling in sales networks and technical expertise. Over the years, localized models have demonstrated that joint ventures aim to leverage their parent brands rather than establish entirely independent entities. This reliance on established joint venture brands suggests that self-sufficient development in car production will remain a challenge for these ventures moving forward.
