On October 30, 2017, BYD released its third-quarter financial report. In the third quarter, the company achieved an operating revenue of 28.895 billion yuan, representing a 3.76% year-over-year increase. However, net profit dropped slightly to 1.069 billion yuan, down 23.92% compared to the same period last year. For the first nine months of 2017, total operating revenue reached 73.933 billion yuan, up 1.56% year-on-year, while net profit totaled 2.791 billion yuan, a decrease of 23.82% from the previous year. The report also provided guidance for the full year 2017, estimating net profit between 4.04 and 4.29 billion yuan. This represents a decline of 15.09% to 20.03% compared to the previous year’s net profit of 5.052 billion yuan. Looking ahead, BYD expects the sales of new energy vehicles to continue growing in the fourth quarter, outpacing the same period last year. The traditional automobile segment also showed signs of recovery, driven by strong market reception of the new Song Max model. Additionally, the mobile phone components and assembly business remained stable, contributing positively to overall profitability. With the nationwide completion of cloud track infrastructure, the company anticipates increased revenue and profit contributions from this emerging business line in the coming months.
