Recently, Chiphomer Technology has introduced a high efficiency inductive boost white light driver CP2122B1 for medium and large screen LCD backlights. As a step-up DC/DC converter component for constant current driving white LEDs, the CP2122B1 can drive 3 to 30 LEDs.
The CP2122B1 operates at frequencies up to 1.4MHz, allowing the use of small external inductors and capacitor components. The LEDs are connected in series, which ensures that the current flowing through each LED is the same, thus achieving consistent brightness. The 300mV feedback voltage minimizes the power dissipated in the current setting resistor, optimizing the efficiency of the white LED driver application as much as possible.
In addition, the CP2122B1's switching tube can peak up to 900mA and can withstand voltages up to 38V. In the case of a single-cell Li-Ion battery, the CP2122B1 can drive up to 10 LEDs, or 7 strings of 3 LEDs per string. As the supply voltage rises, the CP2122B1 can drive more LEDs, making it ideal for backlighting applications in medium to large LCD screens. The CP2122B1 has a built-in soft-start function that limits the inrush current during startup.
The CP2122B1 is packaged in a small SOT23-5L package. In addition to the small area effect, no additional heat sink is required. The single chip can drive up to 30 LEDs, especially for color screen backlights of LCDs up to 8 inches. The chip can be widely used in portable DVD players, digital photo frames, notebook computers, Netbooks and LED lighting equipment.
