OSRAM Optoelectronics Introduces New "TEN°" Sorting Standard

OSRAM Opto Semiconductors has introduced a new “TEN°” sorting standard that provides the basis for unprecedented color consistency for white LEDs in the form of single LED sources for spotlights and downlights. Since March 2016, “TEN°” will enter the market as an additional feature of the third-generation Soleriq S 13.

New white light sorting standard name

Compared with the established CIE 19312° color gamut, the newly developed CIE 201510° standard is better able to respond to color physiology perception, so 10° sorting is preferred. This topic has special significance for the uniform illumination of spotlights and downlights, which is the main application field of chip LEDs on a single white light board. This new sorting standard will be used for the first time in the new generation of Soleriq S 13 to help target applications achieve optimal color consistency.

Alexander Wilm, an expert on general lighting at OSRAM Opto Semiconductors in Germany, said: "Obviously, Soleriq LEDs are in line with current industry standards and will continue to be fully compatible with existing white light groupings. TEN° sorting is just an additional attribute and is extremely useful. Attributes."

Compared with products grouped according to the old CIE 19312° standard, Soleriq LEDs sorted according to the latest research results above are easier to avoid light and color differences when installed in applications such as spotlights, which means that the lamp manufacturer needs to take The processing stage will be reduced; and if the above research results are not taken, the white color effect in the final application will be different, resulting in the need for more processing stages.

Osram's starting point

The starting point for the OSRAM Opto Semiconductors R&D initiative is that in the CIE 19312° color gamut, two LEDs with identical color coordinates may also exhibit significantly different white tones. One of the reasons is that the rods responsible for color perception in the eye are not evenly distributed.

This results in different color perceptions even with LEDs sorted by 1SDCM under traditional metrics. Scientists have known and studied this issue for decades, but their research has never been applied to general lighting. Now, OSRAM Opto Semiconductors has completely changed this situation.

Scope of supply

Rating: Up to 200MVA

Voltage:Valve side voltage up to 1000VDC, Grid side voltage up to 220KV

Double star and double bridge

Applications:

The rectifier transformers are mainly used in the electrolysis processes for production of different kind of metals, such as aluminum electrolyzing, magnesium electrolyzing, copper electrolyzing, zinc electrolyzing and other more applications. The largest installed rectifier transformers are always for aluminum electrolysis with some transformer/rectifier combined units in parallel operation to get the required DC current.

Design:

The rectification method is normally known as double star or double bridge. Double star systems use an interphase transformer (IPT) and are usually applied as 6 or 12pulse units where high currents are required with very low nominal voltages. Double bridge system is applied as 6, 12, 24, 48 or 60pulse systems, as required to suit the harmonic mitigation and process stability requirements.

Duty

Electrolysis is normally a continuous process, but with a constant high loading and current harmonics.
