Let iPhone seconds change to AR Prism pre-sale equipment

Today, Mira announced the launch of their AR product, Mira Prism, and also announced that it had secured a seed round of US$1.5 million. The investors included Sequoia Capital, Troy Capital Partners, and S-Cubed Capital.

Mira Prism is an accessory that can turn the iPhone into an AR headset and is compatible with iPhone 6, 6s and 7. Just like the simple version of Google Cardboard plugged into the mobile experience VR, after inserting the iPhone into Mira Prism, users can experience virtual scenes in the real world.

The Mira Prism includes a headset, remote control, storage box, lens cap, and Mira app and advanced game packages. In terms of configuration, Mira Prism supports a 60-degree field of view with a resolution of 1334 x 750.

To use it, users can enable the Mira application on the iPhone and then place the iPhone in Mira Prism. The screen is away from the user and faces a transparent visor that reflects the image into the user's field of vision, so the object appears to float in front of the user, rendering it in stereoscopic 3D.

A simple demo that comes with Mira Prism uses a Google Daydream-style remote control to control a spaceship. Obviously, there are some areas where hardware and software need to be improved compared to real AR glasses.

But its advantage is also obvious. It costs $99 and is very cheap. There is no "tethering" between the PC and the camera. And it supports iOS, perhaps with the Apple ARKit platform, allowing its AR application projections to be superimposed on Mira software, allowing iPhone and iPad users to share collaborative experiences with Mira users, or take photos containing shared virtual objects to easily show off the AR experience.

Mira Prism is now accepting bookings from the official website. The developer version will be released in the fall, and the consumer version will be shipped during the Christmas holidays. According to them, Android will only be supported after iOS is supported.
