OSRAM Opto Semiconductors and renowned lighting designer Ingo Maurer launched a revolutionary lighting application based on OLED at the International Lighting Fair in Frankfurt. Ingo Maurer was the first person to adopt OSRAM OLEDs in desk lamps.
Osram's CEO, Martin Goetzeler, said that OSRAM Opto Semiconductors has created an OLED prototype for the designer's unique creation. Ingo Maurer uses OLEDs to create a 132 x 33 mm area. Early Future represents an important stage in the transition from abstraction to designer lighting.
OLEDs have all the advantages of LEDs such as high energy efficiency, low operating voltage and non-silver design and some of their own excellent features. The light source is not a collection but a uniform illumination plane.
Dr. Bernhard Stapp, head of solid-state lighting at OSRAM Opto Semiconductors, said that about 50 research engineers are working on OLED development to turn sci-fi applications into reality. In the future it will be possible to use OLEDs as a deformable or transparent source. Transparent OLED windows in the ceiling allow natural light to enter during the day and fascinating lighting in the evening.
