TE Connectivity (TE) has launched a new 0.4 mm fine-pitch, 0.98 mm board-to-board connector that addresses the growing need for compact and efficient electronic designs. This innovative solution is designed to support the development of smaller, more stylish, and thinner devices while reducing manufacturing costs and improving assembly efficiency.
With the increasing demand for miniaturized electronics, board-to-board connectivity has become more complex than ever. Katsuya Unesa, Product Manager for Internal Interconnect Solutions at TE Consumer Electronics, stated, "There's a strong market need for board-to-board connectors that offer maximum structural support while minimizing self-calibration distances. At the same time, they must ensure an optimal cost structure and quick availability. TE’s new board-to-board connector meets these requirements and gives manufacturers greater flexibility in their design processes."
The new connector features a unique design that allows sufficient access space without requiring nozzle changes, which helps reduce labor costs on the production line. It also simplifies and enhances the accuracy of the assembly process with a minimum self-calibration distance of 0.3 mm, a dual-contact system, and anti-seepage features.
Currently, 0.4 mm pitch products are highly popular among users. TE’s new design makes the connection easier, with a distinct click sound when fully engaged, allowing users to easily confirm proper alignment. The connector also provides ample space for pick-and-place operations, and the nickel isolation layer on the signal terminals prevents soldering of both male and female contacts simultaneously. Additionally, the crimped terminals are specially shaped to ensure reliable current transmission.
This latest offering from TE Connectivity is set to become a key component in the next generation of compact and high-performance electronic devices.
