On December 9, according to Taiwan's supply chain manufacturers, Taiwan's LED packaging plants, mainly Yiguang Electronics, Longda Electronics and Dongbei Optoelectronics Technology, will begin production of 15mm OD (light distance) backlight modules at the end of 2013, specifically for Direct-backlit ultra-high definition LCD TV.
The source said that the 15mm OD backlight module can reduce the thickness of the direct-lit LED-backlit LCD TV. The number of LED chips used in the ultra-high-definition TV backlight module is 1.5-2 times that of the full-size full HD model.
According to sources, as manufacturers in mainland China and South Korea are promoting direct-lit LED-backlit LCD TVs, it is expected that the relevant models will account for 70-80% of ultra-high-definition LCD TVs in 2014.
Ronda announced that its consolidated revenue for November was NT$1,167 million (US$39.4 million), an increase of 10.2% from the previous month and a year-on-year increase of 49.52%. The total revenue from January to November was NT$12.636 billion (US$426 million). It rose by 35.39% year-on-year. Currently, Ronda’s 70% of its revenue comes from LED backlights and 30% from LED lighting.
