ADI and Renesas Electronics collaborate to develop 77/79-GHz automotive RADAR technology to improve ADAS applications and create no one

The new RADAR sensor demonstration includes the RH850/V1R-M microcontroller from the Renesas AutonomyTM platform and the ADI Drive360TM advanced 28nm CMOS RADAR technology.

April 11, 2017, Beijing, China, Tokyo , Japan – Analog Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADI), the world's leading high-performance analog technology company, and Renesas Electronics Corporation, the world's leading semiconductor solutions provider (TSE: 6723) ) announced today that the two companies will jointly develop a system-level 77/79-GHz RADAR sensor demonstration solution to improve advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) applications to create driverless cars. The new demonstration combines two cutting-edge technologies, including the RH850/V1R-M microcontroller (MCU) from the Renesas Autonomy platform and the advanced 28nm CMOS RF in-position technology from Analog Devices. The seamless collaboration of these two technologies at the system level enables early detection of small objects moving faster over longer distances for safer driving. It will also reduce the difficulty of integrating RADAR systems, as well as the assessment risks of automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.

Jean-Francois Chouteau, vice president of Renesas Electronics' global ADAS Center, said: "RADAR sensors are essential for all ADAS or autonomous driving functions. This collaboration combines the high-quality resources of Analog Devices and Renesas Electronics to achieve high performance. OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers can reduce development costs and time to market. We are pleased to work with Analog Devices, Inc., ADI's 28nm solution provides excellent RF performance for target detection."

Chris Jacobs, head of ADAS and automotive safety at Analog Devices, said: "The partnership between Analog Devices and Renesas Electronics will be a key driver of the best performance of the RADAR system. This innovative system approach will provide customers with system-level digital interoperability. Sex, which significantly reduces risk. The new RH850/V1R-M MCU, combined with Analog Devices' high-performance Drive360 RADAR platform, will deliver unparalleled performance for advanced ADAS and driverless systems."

About Analog Devices Drive360 28nm CMOS RADAR Technology

The Drive360 28nm CMOS RADAR technology platform is based on ADI's proven portfolio of ADAS, MEMS and RADAR technologies that have been used in the automotive industry for the past 20 years. Drive360 uses the world's first automotive RADAR technology based on advanced 28nm CMOS to apply excellent RF performance to target identification and classification, revolutionizing sensor performance in ADAS applications. ADI's high-performance RADAR solution enables early detection of fast moving small objects. High output power enables identification of smaller objects over a wider range, while very low phase noise enables the clearest detection of small objects in the presence of large objects.
