Changji-Guquan ±1100 kV UHV DC transmission line project is the UHV transmission project with the highest voltage level, the largest transmission capacity, the longest transmission distance and the highest technical level in the world, passing through Xinjiang, Gansu, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Henan and Anhui. 6 provinces (districts). The project will build two ±1100 kV converter stations in Changji and Guquan, with a new commutation capacity of 24 million kilowatts, a new transmission line of 3,304 kilometers, and a dynamic investment of 40.7 billion yuan.

The Xinjiang section starts from the ±1100 kV Changji Converter Station and ends at the Hongliuhe Railway Station at the Xingan junction, passing through 4 counties (cities) such as Jimsar County, Qitai County, Mulei Kazakh Autonomous County and Hami City. The total investment of the project is 450.343 million yuan, the transmission line is 598.684 kilometers long, and there are a total of 1109 towers. It is planned to be completed and put into operation in June 2018.

It is understood that the Xinjiang section is dominated by deserts, Gobi, and mountainous areas. The climatic environment and geographical environment are harsh, which brings great challenges to construction technology and equipment.

After the project is put into operation, it can transfer 66 billion kWh of electricity per year to the East China region, equivalent to transporting 30.24 million tons of coal, which can reduce emissions of 59.4 million tons of carbon dioxide, 149,000 tons of sulfur dioxide and 157,000 tons of nitrogen oxides.
