NI technology reduces vehicle development time by 90%

Press Release – April 11, 2018 – NI (National Instruments, NaTIonal Instruments, NI) As a supplier of platform-based system solutions for engineers and scientists to address the world's toughest engineering challenges, today announced Subaru Other major automakers are using NI hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) technology to simulate actual road conditions in electric vehicle testing to eliminate test time and costs associated with environmental factors.

NI technology reduces vehicle development time by 90%

In the past, engineers used finished vehicles to test vehicles on test roads or public roads to test vehicle performance and safety response. However, certain restrictions, such as weather and rugged road conditions, can make it difficult for engineers to perform repeatable tests on the road in a timely manner. Furthermore, since many subsystems of an electric vehicle are interdependent with each other, the construction of the electric vehicle is extremely complicated. This complexity, coupled with ever-shrinking development cycles and costs, poses a serious challenge for automotive test engineers.

To address these issues, Subaru replaced the actual road conditions for verification testing with NI HIL simulation solutions based on NI PXI products and LabVIEW software. With the HIL system, Subaru can eliminate environmental factors and test the vehicle's embedded controllers efficiently and thoroughly in a virtual environment before actually diagnosing the entire system.

“With NI PXI products and LabVIEW, we were able to fully implement a custom HIL system in one to two weeks and develop the software we needed,” said Daisuke Umiguchi of Subaru's Electrical Power Plant Research and Experiments division. “This has helped us reduce our product procurement costs to just one-third of other solutions, and because we are familiar with LabVIEW, our software development costs are only about one-sixth compared to hiring external developers.”

Subaru plans to use the test system for final quality inspection in the final stages of electric vehicle development and eventually extend its application to all types of vehicles. By adopting this system, Subaru expects to reduce labor time by half compared to traditional methods.

Solar Led All-one Integrated Headlight

Headlights are fitted with integrated LED daylight running lights. All in one street light is most popular in street light.

Most solar lights turn on and turn off automatically by sensing outdoor light using Solar Panel voltage. Solar streetlights are designed to work throughout the night. Many can stay lit for more than one night if the sun is not in the sky for an extended period of time. Older models included lamps that were not fluorescent or LED. Solar lights installed in windy regions are generally equipped with flat panels to better cope with the winds.

Modern designs use wireless technology and fuzzy control theory for Battery management. The street lights using this technology can operate as a network with each light having the capability of performing the turning on and off of the network.
