Micro Whale TV 65D: In the era of homogenization, service and experience are the first

It seems that the tails have already realized that it's not just the smartphone market that's facing homogenization, but now the domestic Internet TV industry is also starting to show similar issues. How to stand out and create a unique identity has become a key challenge for many Internet TV brands looking for innovation. In this context, what new value can the 65D, the latest release in the D series from the company, bring to the entire Chinese Internet TV market?

The Micro Whale TV 65D features a sleek metal body design. The front is framed by four dark gray metal borders, with a minimalist approach that includes no visible buttons or openings. Only a small "Whaley" logo is placed at the center of the bottom frame, giving the TV a subtle and elegant look. This design emphasizes simplicity and functionality, avoiding unnecessary details.

Although the 65D isn't the thinnest model on the market, it doesn't feel overly bulky when placed in a living room. Its design cleverly hides the thickness of the cabinet, maintaining a balanced aesthetic.

As the largest model in the current D-series lineup, the 65D offers a 65-inch 4K-resolution display. It uses a direct-lit LED backlight module combined with HDR technology to enhance brightness and contrast, delivering more realistic color performance and a more vivid picture quality.

Equipped with a 64-bit Cortex-A53 Mstar 6A828 quad-core CPU and a Mali-450 MP4 GPU, the 65D comes with 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage—configurations that are well-suited for everyday use and smooth performance.

In addition to being the largest in size, the 65D is also the most powerful in terms of audio output. It supports Dolby Audio and DTS-HD decoding, providing a richer and more immersive sound experience.

The back panel of the 65D is designed with a central layout, featuring three HDMI 2.0 ports, three USB ports, an Ethernet port, component video input, optical audio output, and even an SD card slot. The downward-facing interface helps prevent dust accumulation, making it both practical and user-friendly.

Since there are no buttons on the front, the power and navigation controls are located on the lower-left corner of the back panel. A power rocker switch and a four-directional control button allow users to manage the TV without any hassle.

The 65D runs on the WUI system, which is based on YunOS and compatible with Android apps. This makes the user experience very similar to other Android-based smart TVs, allowing access to a wide range of third-party applications.

It also integrates content from major platforms like Tencent Video, Mango TV, TVB, and BBC, backed by the “Chinese Culture” Group. Additionally, users get a 12-month platinum membership, granting free access to premium content for a year.

The remote control is a Bluetooth-enabled voice-controlled device, supporting AI voice recognition and dialect support. This makes it especially convenient for elderly users who may find traditional remotes difficult to navigate.
The new child mode allows parents to activate a safe viewing environment, automatically switching to a children’s channel upon startup. It also reduces blue light exposure and offers a timer reminder to help manage screen time effectively.

To be honest, the Chinese smart TV market has moved beyond the era of price competition. With rising panel costs, manufacturers must find ways to differentiate their products. While the 65D’s design and specs are not groundbreaking, its strength lies in the comprehensive content and services it provides. At a price of 5,999 yuan, it offers good value for money in a competitive space.
