PSVR not only for PS host but also for other devices

Although the PSVR was released on Thursday, gamers and technicians have already found a new use for the device. What they discovered was that the head-up PSVR developed for the PlayStation host seems to be compatible with other devices.

PlayStation VR is designed to meet the needs of PlayStation players for virtual reality games. Because the number of VR games on the market is limited, players feel bored, so they try to find ways to maximize the use of PSVR. Some of these methods did not even appear in official marketing advertisements, but the gaming community did not stop trying new things.

Digital Trends compared PlayStation VR with HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. They found that PSVR can run any content over an HDMI connection and the device renders the content in cinema mode. Vive and Rift both support running non-VR games in virtual cinema mode on a 2D display, but now it seems that YiViAn feels that the two heads of this function do not seem to be comparable to PSVR.

Forbes also confirmed that after testing, it found that PlayStation VR compatible devices include the Wii U, PC, and even the Microsoft Xbox. However, there are three disadvantages to connecting the PSVR with other non-Sony digitally signed devices. First of all, PSVR is not optimized for other devices, so it is impossible for players to use their location tracking function. Then, the user cannot interact with the Sony motion controller and content. Finally, third-party devices cannot play sounds on the PSVR.

Keep in mind, however, that the PlayStation VR is only four days old, so the PSVR community may find more new uses for the PSVR before the end of the year. In YiViAn's view, the problem of "miscommunication" in the above devices is likely to be due to the lack of a correct driver, and some people may have been researching and providing third-party patches.
