Socionext, a pioneer in SoC-based imaging solutions, has recently unveiled a cutting-edge 360-degree panoramic camera design featuring integrated Milbeaut® image signal processors. These solutions are tailored to cater to both semi-professional users and general consumers, offering top-tier image quality alongside exceptional low-power performance. The company's product lineup includes two distinct models to address the rising demand for 360-degree camera applications. The semi-professional variant leverages the high-performance SC2000 processor, enabling real-time 4K image stitching. On the other hand, the general consumer model collaborates with Cypress Semiconductor and ImmerVision, utilizing the MBG967 IoT family of processors. Both options come equipped with board design references and software development kits, allowing device manufacturers to effortlessly create customized high-performance dome cameras suited to their specific applications. The MBG967 is specifically engineered for general consumers, responding to the escalating need for real-time 360-degree image capture. This includes applications like live VR video broadcasting. In partnership with Cypress and ImmerVision, Socionext has developed a camera accessory capable of connecting to smartphones and other portable devices. The EZ-USB® CX3 bridge chip, compatible with USB 3.0 and USB 2.0, supports USB video class (UVC) standards, ensuring seamless high-resolution, high-speed image transmission. ImmerVision’s patented Panomorph optical technology and software ensure premium-quality 360-degree images, even in compact camera setups. With these advanced technologies from its partners, Socionext presents the MBG967 360-degree camera solution, incorporating a Milbeaut IoT processor that can handle input from two cameras simultaneously. The initial product features two 16-megapixel cameras mounted on an 8cm x 8cm board. Socionext plans to expand its product range to accommodate various resolution and frame rate demands. The SC2000, designed for high-performance cameras requiring rapid processing of extensive image data, utilizes Socionext's proprietary image processing algorithms to operate under 2W in standard conditions. Users can connect up to four cameras to the SC2000, which processes and stitches video footage in real time, delivering output quality up to 4K/30fps. Cameras equipped with SC2000 are ideal for premium sports cameras and drones. They also provide the perfect spherical image for video conferencing systems, theaters, and sporting events.
