Powering a plant UTEC develops new environmentally friendly LED desk lamps

Recently, researchers at the Spanish University of Engineering and Technology (UTEC) have developed a new type of electric light. Of course, the electric light is not unusual. Rarely, it is powered by a plant. It is reported that the plant electric light uses a high-illumination LED system, which consumes very low energy and can continuously supply 2 hours of light per day.

The electric light uses the energy stored in the soil. What you see is the soil. As the plant grows, the soil contains its released nutrients and microorganisms, and the electric light is powered by the free electrons in these microorganisms.

The developers explained this: We put the plants and the soil in a wooden pot, and of course there are irrigation systems that have been well-prepared and fully protected. Then, we put an energy generation system in the pot that stores the soil and the electrodes, which convert the plant nutrients into electron energy.

It is reported that the beneficiaries of this project plan are residents of the local community of Nuevo Saposa, who belong to a race called ShipiboConibo, which is the region with the lowest power penetration rate. Although Nuevo Saposoa is very scarce on many resources, the lack of electricity is the most critical factor affecting its social, educational, and family development. According to UTEC's Jessica Ruas, they have donated 10 prototypes of plant lights to families in the community.
