The shielding of the light curtain needs to meet specific operating conditions. When conditions are met, the OSSD output of the light curtain is always “ONâ€; once the specified operating conditions are over, the function of the light curtain will be reset.
Safely implementing the shield function requires both hardware and software. Among them, the hardware includes, shielded sensors: such as photoelectric switches or limit switches, visual indicators: such as three-color lights
The software includes four aspects of sequence detection and cross-shielding.
Sequence detection
The order in which the muting sensors are triggered by the workpiece is regular. Once the masking sensor trigger sequence conflicts with the setting, the masking function is immediately interrupted.
Time monitoring
The duration of the shield should not be too long. The maximum masking time is generally set to the time required for the entire workpiece to pass through the light curtain.
Synchronization restrictions
Between pairs of shielded sensors, their synchronization time is short. Limiting the synchronization time can increase the shielding reliability.
Overwrite fault
In the fault state, the light curtain needs to be temporarily overridden. In the event of a fault, use this function to manually remove the workpiece from the light curtain protection area.
In addition, the safety shield can be selected from the following three modes according to different factors such as different working conditions, characteristics of materials, and direction of transmission.
Sequence masking:
A total of 4 sensors, MS1~MS4, are located in sequence. When the workpiece enters the hazardous area, the workpiece is triggered and released strictly in sequence 1~4. When the MS2 is triggered, the muting function starts; after MS3 is released, the muting function is turned off, and the reverse is also true.
Parallel masking:
A total of 4 sensors using MS1~MS4 are located in parallel with each other. When the workpiece enters the hazardous area, the workpiece is triggered and released in sequence “1/2 to 3/4â€. When the trigger (MS1/MS2) is combined, the masking function starts; after the release (MS3/MS4) combination, the masking function is turned off and the reverse is also true.
Cross-shielding:
MS1, MS2 total 2 shots, cross-positioning. When the workpiece enters the hazardous area, MS1 and MS2 are triggered by the workpiece at the same time, and the shielding function starts; both MS1/MS2 are released and the shielding function is turned off.
